Outstanding Experience

Everything about our stay was exceptional. The house is beautiful, true to the Victorian style in every detail, and the location is wonderful, an easy walk to neighboring sights, restaurants and campus. The hosts are warm, and carefully attend to every detail. Breakfast was delicious. We look forward to our future visits.

A unique and special experience

A truly special space and unique experience! I have already been recommending it to friends personally.

The first thing I received after booking was a detailed email with information about the Inn and several resources for the area’s shops, restaurants, and cultural spots- many within a walk or short drive.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by our hosts at the front door with such incredible warmth and hospitality.

The rooms and house are gorgeous- they have all been clearly designed with such care to honor and preserve the home’s history- from the wallpaper to the art on the walls to the quilts on the bed, it feels like stepping back in time- a call to recharge and replenish. If you go in good enough weather, be sure to enjoy the many outdoor spots, as well- the garden, porch, and an ivy covered trellis that all offer seating for watching nature or just reading or reflecting.

The house is literally *right across the street* from the Emily Dickinson residence & museum- we could see the Dickinson house from the window in our room, and on the cozy porch where we took our coffee in the morning after breakfast. And oh yes- do NOT skip breakfast! They don’t just cook up a couple things and leave it out- the hosts have a menu with many things they will cook for you personally- and before or at your arrival, you can let them know about your dietary needs, and they will accommodate them.

The last thing I’ll say is that their “security dog” Stubby is the sweetest little pup- who mostly just follows you upstairs to make sure you get to your room and sleeps while you’re having breakfast.

If I could give more than five stars I would- I would definitely go again!

A Slice of Heaven!

A SLICE OF HEAVEN! Christine and John were magnificent hosts. Warm, kind, professional and exceptional. They keep the Inn immaculate and it is just gorgeous. They make you feel truly at home. Their smiles, radiant personalities and outstanding customer service is second to none. Our breakfast was delicious, cook to order and better than any 5 star hotel breakfasts we’ve had. Our room was so comfortable and unique. We slept like babies in that bed and it was quite as can be. We would love to go back soon! Thank you!

Large comfortable room; excellent breakfast; lovely innkeepers

We really enjoyed our stay. Large comfortable room, decorated to fit the era of the home. Excellent breakfast, individually prepared. Dining setup is conducive to a private breakfast or enjoy a table with other guests. We were attending events at Amherst College; location was a comfortable stroll away from the college and downtown - we never used our car in our 4 days at the inn. Innkeepers very helpful and hospitable before and during our stay. The Amherst Inn will be our first choice for our next trip to Amherst.

Whole experience from beginning to end was wonderful! My daughter & I were visiting Amherst College [just a stone's throw away (as is UMass Amherst)]. The house is so cute and the decor aesthetically pleasing ( I was an antiques seller!).

Christine was kind, accommodating and accessible. The room and bathroom - clean, roomy and comfortable. There's a nice backyard with a fire pit and shade.

Would totally recommend to friends, family, and when I am in the area again, will stay at the Amherst Inn!

Vacation / Family

Christine is a wonderful host, and so accommodating! My husband and daughter stayed at Amherst Inn last night, and arrived well after they had planned, due to traffic issues. Christine was understanding, and kind. The accommodations were comfortable, and welcoming! They got a great night’s sleep, and were fresh today for the UMass Amherst Destination Days event. Recommending this well-located gem!

Beautiful, Comfortable, Well Maintained.

Quaint and historic but well appointed and comfortable. Standard hearty cooked-to-order breakfast can accommodate vegan and gluten free. Spacious common space including a porch to sit and read. Large garden and lawn. Very friendly hosts.

Long staircase to get in. The living room was beautiful but too dark to read.
